I was born and raised in Wyoming. People worked hard, played harder and my mom knew how to cook! In fact, she taught me a lot about cooking. One of the pitfalls that come with doing a lot of cooking is eating. I learned how to make all kinds of really great tasting foods, but they weren’t always the healthiest. As I grew older I started a family and as such, became the cook of the family. I have a wonderful wife and two terrific kids. I work full-time as an administrator at Wichita State University. I am also going to graduate school full-time at the University of Nebraska. If a guy ever needed an excuse for getting out of shape, and cutting corners when it comes to preparing the family meals I had an arsenal full of them. My health started to decline. High blood pressure became a major health concern and having a family history of diabetes, I knew trouble was right around the corner. It didn’t matter though, because I was too busy to do anything about it.
All of that changed one day when my son looked at me and said, “Dad, have you always been so fat? Am I gonna be fat?” Out of the mouths of babes. It was about the same time yet another infomercial for P90X came on the tv. My wife had said she wanted to do it. I told her that I would love to do it, but I had to lose some weight before I did something that extreme. Yet, another excuse. Did I really just say I was too fat to exercise? NO MORE EXCUSES!!!! We ordered P90X and when it arrived we started looking through all the material. The amount of food it recommended for me to eat was unbelievable. But, we were going to do this thing, because my kids never need to wonder if dad is going to be around. So we started following the workouts and tailoring our diets. I started to see some changes, but nothing like the infomercial. I was ready to throw in the towel when I came across Wayne Wyatt’s transformation video Coach Wayne\’s Transformation. This was my introduction to teamRIPPED and forever changing my life.
I have lost 65 pounds over a 9 month period. Most of that weight disappeared after getting connected to Wayne’s team. I have a long way to go to be the man I want to be for my family. Being connected and having a system for support is so important for long term success. I have heard it said that it takes 3 weeks of doing something consistently to make it a habit. I have my new habit – and I am better for it. STOP MAKING EXCUSES ABOUT ALL THE REASONS YOU CAN’T GET HEALTHY AND DO SOMETHING TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
